The Buddhist Village
Trust for Sri Lanka (BVTS) is a registered charity based in the
UK. It was formed by a group of volunteers in 1992, which
were concerned about the plight of impoverished villagers in the
war torn areas in the North and East of Sri Lanka.
The primary aim of BVTS is to help these villagers with their disrupted
lives and help them return to their lands and livelihood as far
as possible. We achieve this without giving handouts; all projects
are based on self-help schemes on a village or community basis,
in which they work towards a sustainable development.
